I'll be looking to assemble a new computer later this summer ... I hope.

That will inevitably depend on the economy and other RL factors as you all know.

So, the budget is indeterminate at this point.

Anywho, I plan on staying with AMD in the cpu department but I'm not dead-set on any other suppliers for the rest of the hardware.

    A few suggestions?

What do you have right now? Don't you want to just upgrade what you have?

    Current computer is:

    Motherboard: MSI 870U-G55
    CPU : AMD PhenomII X4 955 @ 3.2GHz
    RAM : 8 GB
    GPU : EVGA GTX660 w/2 GB
    HD : 2 Samsung 1TB SATA
    OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Upgrades on this MB are limited.

I have an X6 CPU I can put in it, and will at some point, but I'm not so sure that's going to be what I need come TW3.

Really looking to build a new one for myself and upgrade this one as a hand-me-down for my son.

I would probably go with the following. Add your preferred case/psu to list.

    $137.95

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
    $56.98

    Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
    $56.99

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
    $63.49

    Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB Dual-X Video Card
    $187.99

    Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
    $13.98

    Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)
    $90.00

Why the "Micro" ATX form factor?

Oh, you can change that too. I had that because the build I had on pc partpicker was micro ATX case.

Other than that, and doubling-up on the RAM, it looks pretty good to me ... and (relatively) affordable.

I believe the AMD FX-8320 was what I was looking at too.

The prices you quote are online prices?

I like to got to Fry's and look at what they have "on-the-shelf", but a better price online ...
